Manisha Karne ~ President
Manisha is currently serving as a director and professor at Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy, University of Mumbai. She is given the additional charge of Director of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Research Centre at University of Mumbai. She is also currently the coordinator of Research Projects funded by the Tribal Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra at MSEPP. She has recently completed a research project funded by the National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration on “Employment and Employability of Higher Education Graduates in India”. She is a member of the Research and Recognition Committee in the subject of Economics at Mumbai University as well as SNDT Women’s University. Eight research scholars have completed their PhD under her guidance, and six scholars are currently pursuing research under her guidance at MSEPP in University of Mumbai. She specialises in Development Economics, Health Economics and Environmental Economics.

Md Zakaria Siddiqui ~ Vice President
Before joining Jamia Millia Islamia, Zakaria was working as an Economist at the Department of Social Services, Government of Australia. He served as a faculty member at the Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation in Kerala, as well as at other prominent institutions, including BITS Hyderabad, the Institute of Economics and Peace in Sydney, the University of South Australia in Adelaide, and the Institute of Development Studies in Kolkata.He conducts data-driven research in Applied Economics and Public Policy research with themes such as Inclusive Growth, Public Health and Nutrition; Informal labour, Women and Work; Political Economy of Energy Sector Policies; Energy Poverty; Skilled Migration and Development; Positive Peace as a predictor of political/social instability; and Development and Democracy.Zakaria has contributed significantly (1) to “Calorie Puzzle” Debate in India, (2) in unraveling complex role of socio-economic status in determining nutritional outcomes for different age groups (3) in understanding the role of scientific diasporas in the development process (4) on gender related issues in labour market and social policy (5) in understanding the regulatory issues in power sector of India and (6) on Energy Poverty in India. Zakaria has published his research in reputable journals such as World Development, The Journal of Development Studies, Public Health Nutrition, Health Policy and Planning, Energy Policy, and Economic and Political Weekly.

William Joe ~ Secretary
Willam received his BA and MA in Economics from Goa University and then MPhil in Applied Economics and PhD in Economics from Centre for Development Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is currently a faculty member at Population Research Centre of Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), New Delhi. Prior to joining IEG, he worked at BITS-Pilani Goa Campus. He has been visiting Lecturer to a number of places such as TERI University, New Delhi, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya; International Institute of Population Sciences IIPS, Mumbai; SRM University, Tamil Nadu. He is also a Bernard Lown Scholar, Visiting Scientist at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University. His research interests in Health Economics, Demography, Development Economics and Program Evaluation. Currently he is involved in research and technical support on maternal and child nutrition in India for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the NITI Aayog, Tata Trusts and the UNICEF. He is also engaged in monitoring and evaluation of National Health Mission (NHM). He has published good number of articles in peer reviewed Indian and International top journals on Health issues.

Rudra Narayan Mishra ~ Treasurer
Rudra has obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi through Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum in Economics. He is currently assistant Professor at Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR), Ahmedabad. His research interests are human development, poverty and nutrition, livelihood, inequality in health and opportunities and Natural resource management. He teaches research methodology, quantitative and qualitative techniques for empirical studies and development practices to M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars in workshops/training programmes organised by GIDR and other research institutes, universities and NGOs. He has undertaken more than 20 research projects and consultancies so far, as lead author or co-author for various agencies of central and state governments, reputed NGOs and policy practitioners. He has published more than 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited books published by national and international publishers as first author or co-authors. He is life member of various professional bodies like Indian Health Economics and Policy Association (IHEPA), Indian Association of Social Sciences and Health (IASSH), Indian Labour Economics Association, Indian Association of Social Science Institutions (IASSI), Indian Social Science Congress (ISSC) and Association of Gerontology, India (AGI).

Salim Shah ~ Joint Secretary
Salim is a Professor of Economics atTripura University (A Central University) in Agartala, Tripura. He also serves as the Coordinator and Head of the North Eastern Council (Govt. of India) sponsored Entrepreneurship Development Centre and Incubation Centre at the University. Additionally, he is associated with Antarpath Impact Consulting as a Research Consultant for health economics research and policy projects. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and has over two decades of teaching experience in Development Economics, Health Economics, and the Economics of the Social Sector. His research focuses on health, poverty, inequality, and state finances, with a particular emphasis on India’s Northeastern region. He has authored four books and published extensively in national and international journals. As a lead researcher, he has contributed to key policy documents such as Status of RCH for the Slum Dwellers in Agartala (NHM, Tripura), Evaluation of the State Finances of Tripura (2006–07 to 2016–17) for the Fifteenth Finance Commission, Govt. of India and Status of Policing in Conflict Region (Tripura) for LOKNITI-CSDS. His current research focuses on tertiary healthcare investment, displacement-led deprivation among tribal communities, and maternal health inequalities.

Reshmi Sengupta ~ Joint Secretary
Dr. Reshmi Sengupta is an applied economist whose work examines how health systems, financial protection, household behaviour, housing markets, and macroeconomic expectations shape wellbeing in low- and middle-income settings. She is an Associate Professor of Economics at FLAME University, Pune, and a Visiting Senior Fellow (Honorary) at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. Her research spans health insurance, ageing, digital health access, gendered healthcare utilisation, and behavioural responses in housing and inflation expectations, using advanced causal and econometric methods. Her work appears in leading journals and global forums, reflecting her commitment to rigorous, policy-relevant research.

Rinshu Dwivedi ~ Member
Rinshu is a Health Economist working in the areas of healthcare financing, equity, elderly health care and Health Technology Assessment. Currently, she is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Science and Humanities at NIT Hamirpur. She has completed her PhD in Health Economics from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, and has been extensively working in the areas of Health and Development Economics. She has also worked as a Scientist C at ICMR-RMRC Bhubaneswar HTA, India, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Sunil Rajpal ~ Member
Sunil is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at FLAME University, Pune. He also serves as the Director of the Centre for Research in Wellbeing and Happiness at FLAME University. He was affiliated with Geographic Insights Lab, Harvard University as a Research Fellow and a Research Professor at the Centre for Precision Public Health, Korea University, Seoul. He has over four years of experience and before this, he was associated with IIHMR University, Jaipur as an Assistant Professor. He received his Doctorate Degree in Economics from the Central University of Gujarat and was affiliated as an ICSSR Doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. His research interests include Health Economics, Health and Nutrition Policy, and Development Economics. His research work has appeared in reputed journals including The Lancet Global Health, Scientific Reports (Nature), Social Indicators Research, Social Science and Medicine. He is currently involved in research on precision public health policy designing, and socioeconomic determinants of well-being among older adults and the elderly.

Vinod B Annigeri ~ Member
Vinod’s core areas of interest include issues relating to Economics of Education and Health. He got his Ph.D. in Economics of Education from Mangalore University. Currently he is serving as Professor and Director of CMDR at Dharwad. He has served as consultant for many national and international organizations. For example he has worked on research studies funded by Ford Foundation, IDRC Canada, DFID, USAID. He was part of the WHO’s international team for the development of Reproductive Health Accounts. He has some of the pioneering studies relating to Health Accounts at the micro level. He has also served as member of various committees at the state level. He has also been member other professional and academic bodies at the national level. He has many publications in reputed journals. He has also co-authored three books on Health Education and Development. He played a key role in the formation of Indian Health Economics and Policy Association (IHEPA). He has served this association as Founder Joint Secretary for six years.
